The AffordAssist Challenge – Who Can Get the First “Yes”?

Form thumb

Dear All

It’s time to put innovation into action.
The AffordAssist Challenge invites Australians to reimagine how a property deposit can work — and rewards those who help prove what’s possible.

The Challenge

Instead of needing the full 10% upfront, with an AffordAssist Deferred Deposit Sale, that amount can be deferred over 60 monthly payments, interest-free, without adding to the buyer’s home loan or increasing debt.

Now, we’re turning this idea into a real-world challenge:
Find a property seller willing to sell with a 10% Deferred Deposit paid over 60 months, interest-free — and experience what’s already happening.

We want to see who can secure a “yes” from a seller — and how efficiently they can do it.

Proven Success

A “yes” is not just possible — it happens, creating a wonderful sense of cooperation between buyer and seller.

The AffordAssist team has been successfully facilitating Deferred Deposit Sales for over 8 years, helping buyers access homes sooner while giving sellers confidence in the process.

Why would a property seller agree to an AffordAssist Deferred Deposit Property Sale?
It’s a fair question — and one that makes sense, because AffordAssist represents a new way to think about how we buy and sell property.

In our experience, around 1 in ? property offers are accepted through AffordAssist — and the key variable is effort.

Working with an approved Buyer’s Agent provides buyers with the best possible chance of success.

For clarity: an AffordAssist Approved Agent or Property Procurement Manager engages with the listing agent, solicitor, or conveyancer, and — where appropriate — the property sellers to clearly explain the “how,” “what,” financing, and legal aspects of the Deferred Deposit Property Sale, and to assist in preparing formal offers.

Now, we’re inviting motivated participants to take the challenge — without the help of an AffordAssist Approved Buyer’s Agent — and experience firsthand how this innovative approach works in practice.

The Rewards

To celebrate real innovation in action, AffordAssist is offering two rewards:

  • $2,000 Reward — to the participant who secures a Deferred Deposit Sale with the fewest offers made (the most efficient path to a “yes”).
  • $1,000 Reward — to the participant who secures a Deferred Deposit Sale after making the most offers (the greatest persistence).

For example:
• 10 offers = 1 yes → $2,000 winner (most efficient)
• 50 offers = 1 yes → $1,000 winner (most persistent)

How rewards are credited:
The reward amount will be applied as a credit toward the AffordAssist one-off administration service fee of $3,300 (inc. GST), payable upon completion of the Deferred Deposit Sale once the AffordAssist Deferred Deposit Agreement (DDA) has been signed by all stakeholders and the property has exchanged, unconditional.

(Terms, eligibility, and verification apply; details available upon registration.)

Why This Matters

Buyers:

  • Enter the property market sooner — without extra loan debt or pressure on family.
  • Take the challenge. Be an inspiration — for those who think it’s impossible.
  • Is it worth the effort? Example:
    • Reduce the loan amount by 10% of an $800,000 purchase = $80,000
    • Typical repayments to a lender (≈3×) = $240,000
    • With AffordAssist — Interest-free = $80,000
      You save $160,000

Sellers:

  • Expand your buyer pool — without discounting your sale price.

Industry professionals:

  • Help demonstrate a practical, ethical framework for more accessible home ownership.

This challenge highlights that innovation in housing finance doesn’t need to be theoretical — it just needs people willing to test it in the real world.
